Cornell Pump Offers Popular ‘Buy a Pump, Get a Jacket’ Promotion

For more than a decade Cornell Pump Distributors have eagerly anticipated ordering a pump in the late summer or early fall to take advantage of the “Buy a Pump, Get a Jacket!” promotion. Offer runs through August 31, 2012. Jackets featured are from popular outdoor retailer Cabela’s, with retail value of more than $80 dollars.

Clackamas, Oregon – August 10, 2012 – Cornell Pump Company once again offers our popular “Buy a Pump, Get a Jacket!” promotion. This promotional effort, taking place in late summer or early fall for more than a decade, is an eagerly anticipated event. Distributors placing an order with Cornell Pump Company from August 10 through August 31, 2012 are eligible to receive a jacket for each pump ordered.*

The jackets are rain wear; fitting, given the rainy season Cornell’s Clackamas, Oregon based factory is anticipating in the fall. From renowned outdoor outfitter Cabela’s, the jackets feature a snappy Cornell logo. Retail value of the jackets is more than $90 dollars each.

Most Cornell Pump distributors proudly wear their jackets, and retire the last year’s jacket when the new year’s jackets become available. Many also use the jackets in their operations as recognition gifts to staff, and thank you gifts to customers. Receiving a jacket for each pump ordered by the deadline makes giving them away as premiums popular.

“We’ve been receiving inquires since spring, asking when the promotion would start,” said Cornell Vice President of Sales, Marcus Davi. “It is a very popular promotion. We encourage all our distributors to take advantage and order a pump prior to the August 31, 2012 deadline.”

Promotion ends August 31, 2012 and all eligible purchase order forms should be returned to Cornell Pump Company by September 15, 2012.

*Other stipulations: One jacket per pump; order multiple pumps and receive multiple jackets. Jackets will be shipped ground transport to recipients. All jackets should be delivered by October 5, 2012. First come, first served; every effort will be made to have the jacket in appropriate size. If jacket is not available, another jacket of equal value can be substituted.

CYCLOSEAL® FEATURED AS INNOVATIVE DESIGN IN MODERN PUMPING TODAY

Cornell’s Southeast Regional Manager, Richard Holton, was a featured writer for Modern Pumping Today in their July 2012 issue. Richard’s informative article about Cornell’s Cycloseal® design explains the unique deflector vane design and how they work in conjunction with impeller back vanes to create a cyclonic action.

Cycloseal® helps remove solids and abrasive materials from the seal area while purging air and gas pockets, extending seal life and eliminating need for venting or water flush. Cycloseal® is available on all Cornell solids handling pumps and many of our clear liquids, hot oil, and food handling pumps.

THE DENVER, CO. DISTRIBUTOR MEETING ROUND-UP

Cornell Pump Company held a distributor meeting in Denver, Colorado from June 12 to 14, 2012. More than 85 distributors from seven different countries learned about Cornell’s exciting new product designs, sales supports for current Cornell products, and innovative new marketing and promotion initiatives.

Distributors listen to new product presentation June 13. More than 85 distributors from seven countries participated.

Distributors also enjoyed hospitality at an opening reception, a specular golf outing to Arrowhead Golf Course, and a tour of the world famous Coors Brewery. The networking, questions, and camaraderie strengthened relationships between distributors and Cornell staff.

Cornell Engineering Vice President Steve Schoenbrun answers a participant’s question during the distributor meeting. New Cornell banners and collateral materials were on display in the background.

Cornell featured its Cutter Pump—now installed in more than 60 applications across the country. The revolutionary stationary and rotating impeller design was presented to distributors—along with enhanced marketing brochures and product curves. Jim Denton, a Southern California distributor with numerous cutter pumps in the field, described the product as, “Exciting in what it offers—peace of mind. The pump saves a great deal of maintenance time do to its innovative design; in many cases tens of thousands of dollars per year.”

ome products are so new that distributors received a ‘sneak peek’ before they are unveiled at trade shows this fall. These new and improved designs had the room buzzing with anticipation, though. “It was great to gather feedback on the new and existing Cornell products,” said Robert Ray, Cornell Pump Company President. “We appreciate distributors taking time from busy schedules to learn and network. We feel it’s important in continuing our relationship with distributors to meet face-to-face. Ultimately, it helps Cornell and the distributor better meet customer needs.”

New Cornell products displayed at the meeting will debut at the MinExpo and WEFTEC shows in Fall 2012.

Cornell Pump Company’s Building Getting Spruced Up

For the pictures, it may looks as if Cornell Pump is now a ‘copany.’ We’re not spelling our name in a unique way—rather the exterior of our building is being spruced up with new paint, trim coat , and a revamped Cornell sign.

The M was removed in the preparatory power washing. We expect to have the new exterior painted within the next three weeks. We’ll post pictures when the work is completed.

Even without our ‘M’, we’re still producing industry-leading pumps, strong innovations, and quality products inside the building.

COMPARISON OF SELF-PRIMERS: A Customer Lead Field Test

BY DAVID HASKINS, SOUTHWEST REGIONAL MANAGER

I call on numerous accounts weekly. A question that often arises is “Which pump is best?”

While this certainly varies from application to application, I tend to like to see performance to make that determination. My experience in college football and 15 years of professional wrestling taught me that ‘talk is cheap’ and that true winners will shine in a competition.

Last month I witnessed a test conducted by KRP Rentals in Odessa, Texas. They wanted to test a 4 inch Cornell pump against 4 inch pumps from Gorman Rupp and Summitt. KRP would use the winner on some new water transfer packages.

The pumps were all operated on the same model 40 HP engines, turning at 1800 RPM. KRP was most concerned with the amount of water the pumps could push through in the test. The clear winner was the Cornell 4ST Self Primer. The 4ST pumped right at 700 GPM, while the competitors were able to produce only 550 GPM. Cornell had more than 27 percent greater flow than the others, operating at the same conditions.

They are not going to “crown” champs in the question of which is the best pump, but I submit that the Cornell 4ST is worthy of the laurels of a champion.
